Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager Engineering and Grid, you will be accountable for supporting engineering design, process and governance for Australian development projects including large scale energy storage, solar generation, gas turbine generation, advanced manufacturing precinct and data centres.
This is a key role supporting the Manager of Engineering and Grid in the execution and technical support requirements of the expanding development portfolio.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering
- Drive and support good engineering outcomes and optimisation for development projects supporting development managers and the wider department.
- Ensure all project aspects comply with technical rules and regulations, integrating them into project activities.
- Responsible for working closely within the development and execution project teams as an integrated function.
- Prepare, coordinate, and monitor projects from initial conception to final completion, with meticulous budget and timeline planning in regard to engineering design and solutions production.
- Ensure conceptual designs support successful power system studies, defining technical requirements for Solar Farms, Wind Farms, Battery Energy Storage Systems and manufacturing precincts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with OEMs, consultants, and contractors to drive optimal techno-commercial outcomes.
- Prepare and review standard technical scopes of work and schedules for development projects.
- Conduct site visits and assessments, considering land, connection, logistics, environment, local infrastructure, and other relevant factors.
- Coordinate activities between technical consultants, OEMs, EPC, AEMO, and state NSPs, meeting all party requirements.
- Provide technical input and optimisation for conceptual designs and technology selection by the technical team or external design consultants.
- Assist in contract management for engineering and technical aspects of large delivery projects.
Grid Connection
- Support the management of external engineering and grid connections resources, ensuring project schedules align with forecasts for timely project delivery.
- Management of TNSP and DNSP registration, and connection application materials and process.
Project Support
- Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Advise and support project teams to understand and implement engineering and design requirements, tracking and management for the Project portfolio.
- Interacting and driving Development Managers and ensuring engineering design standards and good process are followed in each project and for each phase.
- Provide on-ground support for project needs across environmental approvals and land access functions.
- Develop strong internal relationships to identify, adapt and implement Company policies and programs to drive Australian project outcomes.

Experience, Education, Capabilities and Personal Attributes Required for this Role
Experience
- Essential – 5+ years' experience in large infrastructure project engineering, renewable, mining or processing plant development.
- Preferred – experience in energy and infrastructure engineering requirements and design.
- Preferred – transmission connection process.
Education
- Essential – degree in engineering (Preferred – electrical).
- Essential – Current Driver's License.
- Preferred – formal Project Management Qualifications, CPEng/RPEQ.
Capabilities
- Proficient communication and written skills.
- Understanding of power system fundamentals, familiarity with Australian standard, AEMO and TNSP process and engineering in a renewable energy or storage context.
- Developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in AutoCAD or other engineering design software.
