Quality Control Lead (SHEETMETAL FABRICATION) Jobs in Mesa, AZ at ADVANCED ENERGY IDEAS
AEI Fabrication is a precision sheet metal manufacturing company serving the aerospace, defense, medical, and commercial industries. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Lead to help maintain our Quality Management System while leading day-to-day quality activities on the manufacturing floor.
This is a hands-on leadership position that works closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Management to ensure products meet customer specifications and company quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and enjoys solving problems while helping others succeed.
Responsibilities
Quality System Support
- Assist in maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Support compliance with AS9100D, customer requirements, and company procedures.
- Assist with internal, customer, and certification audits.
- Maintain quality records, procedures, and documentation.
Inspection & Quality Assurance
- Perform and oversee:
- Receiving Inspection
- In-Process Inspection
- Final Inspection
- First Article Inspections (AS9102 preferred)
- Review inspection reports and ensure product meets customer specifications.
- Verify calibration status of inspection equipment.
- Assist in maintaining inspection equipment and records.
Production Support
- Work directly with Production and Engineering to resolve quality concerns.
- Identify product and process issues before they become customer problems.
- Help investigate nonconforming material and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Supplier & Customer Quality
- Assist with supplier quality issues and corrective actions.
- Support responses to customer quality concerns.
- Help monitor supplier and customer quality performance metrics.
Leadership
- Provide daily guidance and support to Quality Inspectors.
- Promote consistency in inspection methods and quality expectations.
- Help train new inspectors and production employees on quality requirements.
- Lead by example with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Continuous Improvement
- Track quality metrics including scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- 1–3 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Basic understanding of inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment.
- Experience with AS9100D or ISO quality systems.
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Due to the nature of our work supporting government and defense-related programs, this position requires access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). As a result, only U.S. Citizens are eligible for employment in this role.
Preferred
- Experience in a precision sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring others.
Pay: $25.83 – $30.28 per hour
