ABOUT THE ROLE
Sheenlac Paints is looking for a seasoned R&D Technical Manager to spearhead new product development and re-engineering across our construction chemicals range — waterproofing, epoxy, PU flooring, cementitious systems, and repair products. This is a long-term leadership role for a hands-on chemist who can think like a scientist and communicate like a business partner.
We value depth over breadth. This is a role for professionals with 12–20 years of serious experience who are looking for a long-term home — not a stepping stone.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- M.Sc. in Chemistry from a reputed institution
- 12–20 years of experience in R&D within the construction chemicals or coatings industry
- Demonstrated long tenure at previous organisations (minimum 5–6 years per company) — stability and commitment matter to us
- Hands-on experience in technical troubleshooting across all product categories
- Exposure to conducting training programmes and presenting technical seminars
- Working knowledge of industry standards and product specifications
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead new product development across the CC range — prioritising waterproofing, epoxy, PU flooring, cementitious, and repair systems
- Drive product re-engineering for cost optimisation without compromising performance
- Develop new raw materials to reduce SKU complexity and improve cost efficiency
- Conduct and oversee site and field trials independently
- Manage pilot batches for new and re-engineered products with full QA/QC oversight
- Own technical troubleshooting — fast, hands-on, and effective
- Maintain and calibrate all lab instruments; uphold lab hygiene and traceability standards
- Develop, update, and maintain Technical Data Sheets (TDS) across the product portfolio
- Lead and independently deliver product training programmes for internal and external stakeholders
- Support marketing with technical inputs, presentations, and collateral development
- Prepare monthly R&D MIS reports for management review
- Assist in annual CAPEX planning for lab equipment, instruments, and manpower
