Pacific Manufacturing & Design (PMAD) is a rapidly growing contract manufacturer specializing in custom formulation and manufacturing of dietary supplements and functional foods. We partner with emerging and established brands to develop innovative products including gummies, center-filled gummies, chocolates, capsules, powders, drink mixes, tinctures, wellness shots, and more.
We're looking for an organized, curious, and detail-oriented Research & Development (R&D) Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys innovation, problem-solving, and transforming product ideas into commercial-ready products.
Responsibilities
- Research new ingredients, formulation technologies, and industry trends
- Develop and optimize formulations for gummies, chocolates, capsules, powders, beverages, and other functional products
- Source ingredients, packaging, and new product components
- Coordinate supplier communications, ingredient samples, and technical documentation
- Create and maintain formulation records, product specifications, and R&D documentation
- Coordinate bench-top, pilot, and production trials
- Assist with product commercialization and manufacturing scale-up
- Review ingredient specifications, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and technical documents
- Work closely with Quality, Compliance, Purchasing, Operations, and Production teams
- Troubleshoot formulation and production challenges
- Assist with formulation costing and continuous product improvements
- Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in food, nutraceutical, dietary supplement, confectionery, or beverage product development preferred
- Experience with gummies, chocolates, powders, capsules, beverages, or functional ingredients is highly desirable
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred Experience
- Dietary supplement regulations
- FDA cGMP
- NSF/GMP manufacturing environments
- Ingredient sourcing and supplier management
- Flavor development
- Stability testing
- Product costing and commercialization
- Experience in a Food R&D lab at least 1 year
