We're seeking a Robotics Automation Engineer to join an innovative Research & Early Development team focused on exploring and validating next-generation automation solutions before they become products. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of robotics, automation, machine vision, and advanced prototyping in a highly collaborative R&D environment.

📍 Location: Tucson, AZ (Onsite)

💰 Pay Rate: $60–$65/hr

🎯 Interview Process: No coding tests or take-home assignments

🔬 What You'll Be Doing

✨ Design, build, and evaluate robotic automation solutions in a research environment

✨ Develop rapid prototypes and conduct feasibility studies

✨ Work directly with collaborative robots (cobots) and automation systems

✨ Create mechanical designs using SolidWorks/CAD

✨ Develop motion control solutions using servo motors, stepper motors, encoders, and feedback systems

✨ Implement machine vision solutions for calibration and object detection

✨ Test, troubleshoot, iterate, and optimize robotic systems

✨ Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and software developers on cutting-edge automation initiatives

✅ Required Qualifications

🎓 Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering highly preferred)

Must-Have Skills

🤖 Robotics automation experience

🛠️ Mechanical, electrical, and software prototyping

📐 Strong SolidWorks/CAD expertise

⚙️ Motion control systems:

  • Stepper Motors
  • Servo Motors
  • Encoders
  • Feedback Systems

👁️ Machine vision experience for:

  • Robot calibration
  • Object detection

💡 Ability to work independently in a laboratory environment and rapidly troubleshoot technical challenges

⭐ Preferred Skills

🚀 ABB RobotStudio experience

🐍 Python programming and debugging

⚡ Electronic controls and PID systems

🌐 Industrial networking (TCP/IP)

🎯 Machine vision tools including:

  • Fiducials
  • ArUco Tags
  • AprilTags

🔧 Robotic calibration and industrial automation integration experience

Equivalent robotics platforms will also be considered.
