Senior Engineering Geologist Jobs in Sandton, South Africa at Assegai Recruitment (Pty) Ltd
- BSc (Hons) Engineering Geology (minimum)
- Professional registration with SACNASP essential.
- Involvement in voluntary associations would be beneficial (SAIEG)
- Minimum of 10 years’ practical experience in engineering geology.
- Strong track record in geotechnical investigations for a variety of sectors, both in South Africa and Africa.
- Dolomite-specific experience would be advantageous.
- Rock engineering specific experience would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise junior engineering geologists and geotechnologists.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Geotechnical investigations:
Planning, execution, and reporting for a variety of investigation levels (preliminary, feasibility, detailed design). - Data analysis:
Collection, analysis, and interpretation of geotechnical data. - Site supervision:
Supervising geotechnical contractors and junior staff, including appointment of contractors, oversight of site operations, and ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality, and environmental standards. - Mentorship:
Supervision and mentoring of junior staff (students, graduates, junior engineering geologists and geotechnologists). - Reporting:
Preparation and delivery of professional quality technical reports and presentations. - Decision making:
Providing sound technical solutions and decisions throughout project phases. - Project delivery:
Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications. - Procurement of work:
Preparation of quotations, tenders, specifications, and cost estimates.
