Purpose

Serves as the Senior Engineering Manager, providing technical leadership and oversight for all major engineering projects. Responsible for performing advanced design, analysis, and problem-solving on complex systems, while supporting the planning, coordination, and successful execution of departmental initiatives including R+D projects.

This role drives continuous improvement by optimizing engineering processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing non-value-added activities. Additionally, the Senior Engineer mentors team members and fosters a collaborative, high-performing engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of company systems, quality policies, and organizational objectives
  • Build and maintain expert-level knowledge of fans and blowers, including types, configurations, components, and construction
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and promote safe work practices
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while maintaining a sense of urgency
  • Oversee and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases in a timely manner
  • Lead and support departmental initiatives focused on improving efficiency, throughput, and waste reduction
  • Review engineering work with a focus on design for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality
  • Maintain and update engineering standards to support cost reduction and quality improvement
  • Participate in design and manufacturing reviews, contributing to high-priority and complex projects
  • Ensure designs comply with engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (sales, materials, production) to support production planning and execution
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding product performance and operation

Additional Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and interns
  • Review and approve FEA studies and other technical analyses
  • Support training initiatives to ensure team competency and growth 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Certifications

  • SolidWorks CSWP certification or equivalent 3D modeling certification preferred
  • FEA training and/or demonstrated experience preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment (sheet metal and welding preferred)
  • Previous experience with blower or compressor design highly preferred
  • Experience with rotating equipment or high-speed machinery preferred
  • CFD experience is a plus
  • Hands-on equipment testing experience preferred
  • Prior leadership or management experience is a plus

Core Competencies

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and lead engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and modern manufacturing processes (welding, machining, metal forming, etc.)
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ASME, ASTM, API, ANSI, NEMA, ASHRAE, ISO, etc.)
  • Understanding of electrical components, motors, and rotating equipment (bearings, shafts, etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in FEA, including static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue analysis
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, specifications, and procedures
  • Experience supporting equipment testing and configuring test instrumentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Ability to present technical information to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply mathematical and scientific principles
