ROLE – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
SALARY – $120,000 – $140,000 per annum, dependent on experience
TYPE – Permanent
LOCATION – Melbourne, VIC
My client is a specialist manufacturer of bespoke equipment. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Melbourne on a permanent basis.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- At least 4 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360 etc.
- Previous experience working with a variety of materials including sheet metal, machined parts and injection molded plastics
- Good theoretical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Strong practical skills with hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing and prototyping
- Experienced designing products from concept to production
- Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
- Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
- Able to work well individually as well as part of a team
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production
- Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
- Liasing with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly
- Creating required documentation for design and project reports
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
