Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Designer role is crucial within our client-focused company, requiring extensive technical expertise, innovative problem-solving skills, and a dedication to exceptional customer service. This role involves leading cross-departmental collaboration to fully understand client needs, designing and sourcing custom solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring that our product offerings exceed customer expectations. The ideal candidate will drive the creation of innovative solutions through globally sourced products and the enhance in-house manufactured products.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the engineering team to research, design, develop, update, and test systems, components, and products.
- Oversee the vetting of a variety of components and product lines to ensure a comprehensive offering that meets client needs.
- Partner with sales and marketing teams to analyze client needs and propose solutions that exceed their specifications.
- Engage with the materials team to meet with relevant suppliers, discuss new and emerging technologies, and assist with lifecycle management of components.
- Guide the production team in designing and implementing new manufacturing processes and improving existing ones.
- Lead testing and analysis with the production team to ensure product quality.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of product instructions and packaging to enhance client experience.
- Ensure detailed, up-to-date documentation for all design projects, including Engineering CAD design, drawings, specifications, and procedures to meet production, procurement, sales, and client needs.
- Maintain and expand professional and technical knowledge, including SAE and other specification knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated, self-starter with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and improvement, with a willingness to engage in personal growth initiatives.
- Expertise in relevant discipline-related software, including a solid modeling CAD package (Solid Works preferred).
- Proven experience in managing and overseeing the complete lifecycle of design and mechanical projects, from concept to production, ensuring alignment with client specifications and company standards.
- In-depth knowledge of drawing standards and DFM standard practices.
- Familiarity with design requirements for various techniques, including but not limited to injection molding, vacuum forming, metal extrusion, sheet metal design, die casting, ultrasonic welding, etc.
- Beneficial optics knowledge:
Light tools, trace pro. - Excellent hands-on skills.
- Mechanical Technologist/Engineering level diploma or related education/experience.
- Significant work experience in a product design and/or manufacturing environment is essential.
