Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer Jobs in Greater Toronto Area, Canada at DeepCoolAI

Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Company: DeepCoolAI

Location: Greater Toronto Area, Canada

About the Company

DeepCoolAI delivers high-efficiency liquid-cooling solutions—Rear-Door Heat Exchangers (RDHx), Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), Load Banks, and Service Carts—designed for hyperscale, HPC, and AI data centers.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design, development, and release of DCAI’s liquid-cooling equipment. You will own major assemblies and end-to-end engineering execution—from concept and analysis through prototype, validation, manufacturing release, and field support—while mentoring junior engineers and partnering closely with Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership & ownership
  • Lead mechanical design for RDHx, CDUs, and related platforms from concept to production release.
  • Own subsystem architecture, requirements, design tradeoffs, and technical decision-making.
  • Mentor engineers and review models/drawings for quality, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Design, analysis, and validation
  • Produce robust 3D CAD, manufacturing drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and BoMs.
  • Perform/oversee thermal and fluid calculations (heat transfer, pressure drop, airflow, pump selection), and guide test plans to validate performance.
  • Drive design verification testing (DVT), reliability testing, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
  • DFM/DFA & production readiness
  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to optimize designs for cost, lead time, and quality.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, revision control, and release packages (ECR/ECO workflows).
  • Support NPI builds, pilot runs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Controls teams to ensure mechanical designs integrate cleanly with sensors, wiring, enclosures, and automation.
  • Support customer-facing technical work: reviewing specs, responding to RFIs, and contributing to proposals/quotes (as needed).
  • Supplier & stakeholder management
  • Lead supplier technical communication for fabrication, machining, sheet metal, welding, coatings, and assemblies.
  • Identify technical risks early and drive mitigation through FMEA and structured problem solving.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 7+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (industrial equipment, thermal/fluid systems, HVAC/liquid cooling, or similar).
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD) and drawing release practices (GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, BoMs).
  • Demonstrated experience taking products from prototype to production (NPI, DFM/DFA, supplier builds, validation testing).
  • Solid fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics; comfortable with pump/coil/fan selection and pressure-drop analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills

  • Experience with data center cooling, liquid-cooled racks, or high-power thermal management.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal, piping, weldments, and enclosure design.
  • Exposure to simulation tools (FEA/CFD/thermal) and test instrumentation/data analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ASHRAE thermal management guidance).
  • P.Eng (Canada) / PE (U.S.) or eligibility in progress.

Preferred Skills

  • Build next-generation cooling solutions for the AI/HPC era in a highly applied, product-driven environment.
  • High ownership, rapid iteration, and direct impact on real customer deployments.
  • Remote-friendly culture with strong collaboration across engineering disciplines.
