Senior Process Engineer
– Job Description We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to help shape the future and improve lives for billions of people around the world.
Responsibilities Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner.
Develop and deliver equipment and processes that meet safety requirements, policies, and guidelines.
Lead risk reduction activities to protect operators, maintenance personnel, and other staff.
Manage multiple medium‑to‑large initiatives to improve asset performance or plant systems, enhance product quality and conformance, and reduce variability to meet quality scorecard metrics.
Lead major initiatives for breakthrough improvements and solve higher‑level problems for the plant.
Apply engineering principles, scientific analysis, LEAN principles, and project management to drive continuous improvement.
Incorporate best practices and centerlines to optimize key outputs.
Identify, define, and solve complex process issues to root cause and achieve objectives.
Participate in the development of others within the area of the incumbent’s expertise, including creating knowledge transfer documentation.
Support maintenance personnel when troubleshooting complex issues.
Identify and document issues and opportunities with existing equipment.
Develop and maintain a training plan for process resources at the site.
Lead a safety work team.
Execute product and process trials to drive improvements for assets and/or business, and coach teams on trial planning and preparation.
Provide input to plant expense and capital plans, ensuring proposed changes align with the 5‑year vision.
Participate in early design, technology, equipment selection, sizing, and location decisions, and provide oversight during installation and commissioning.
Work with digital platforms (Tier Accountability T1‑3) and extend support to other plant operations as required.
Lead or participate in EHSS Programs, Standard Work, Problem Solving, Lean Projects, and other assignments.
Be flexible to support 24/7 operation and travel up to 15% for benchmarking and best practice sharing.
Be prepared for shift coverage to support projects or initiatives as needed.
Qualifications Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
At least seven years of industrial experience in technical or operational roles in high‑speed consumer product manufacturing and/or staff environment.
Strong experience with manufacturing analysis tools (statistical process control, design of experiments, process capability studies, Six Sigma, and Lean manufacturing).
Proven ability to perform in cross‑functional teams and achieve objectives within required time frames.
Lean Yellow Belt and proficiency in LEAN business practices.
Financial acumen and competent digital/computer skills for operations.
Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated strong safety mindset and behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications Extensive knowledge of tissue production equipment, materials, and processes.
Multiple years of experience in plant manufacturing, staff support, or capital project assignments (including maintenance, utilities, and asset support).
Experience working with external technical service providers.
Familiarity with high‑speed manufacturing equipment startups.
Experience and expertise in company engineering procedures and processes.
Benefits and Compensation Competitive base salary ranging from 100,000 to 123,600 CAD, plus eligibility for a target bonus.
