Supply Chain Lead Jobs in United States at Redstone Manufacturing

Title: Supply Chain Lead

Company: Redstone Manufacturing

Location: United States

Order Manager (Purchasing & Supply Chain)

Redstone Manufacturing | Remote, US-based | Full-time | Reports to the President

About Redstone

Redstone Manufacturing sources custom metal parts through an overseas supply chain (China, Taiwan, India) for customers in firearms, medical devices, defense, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and automotive aftermarket. We are a small, fast-moving team with people in the US, the Philippines, and China. You will have real ownership from day one.

Why this role exists

Once an order is won, the work of landing it on time, to spec, and correctly documented currently has no single owner, so it defaults to the President. This role takes that over. You become the central hub for roughly 60 open purchase orders at any time. Suppliers, freight forwarders, and our operations specialist come to you for decisions, and orders keep moving without climbing to the top.

This is an ownership seat, not a coordination seat. We do not need a relay. We need the person who catches the problem nobody pointed at.

What you will own

  • Production schedules and ship dates. Every open order, every supplier. You drive POs through production, keep samples and inspections on schedule, and expedite the moment a date is threatened, not after it slips.
  • Supplier communication and follow-up. All routine supplier communication. You hold suppliers to committed dates, push back on unjustified price or schedule changes, and escalate pattern problems early. Our standard is short, numbered requests with explicit confirm-by dates.
  • Logistics and trade documentation. Freight decisions within set limits (air versus sea, consolidation, carrier selection), bookings with forwarders, shipping documents, HTS code verification, customs coordination, and reconciling shipping invoices against quotes.
  • Verification. The heart of the job. You check invoices against orders before they go out. You spot-check HTS codes without being told. You notice when a packing list, an invoice, and a PO disagree. You build verification steps nobody asked for, because you have seen what unchecked details cost.
  • People and cadence. You direct the daily work of our Philippines-based operations specialist (POs, invoices, shipment notices) and actively develop her toward greater ownership. You coordinate inspection timing with our China-based quality team. You run the weekly orders and shipments review and own its action items to closure.

What you will not own

Customer relationships, quotes, and pricing stay with account owners. New supplier sourcing and RFQ hunting is a separate function. Technical judgment on feasibility, DFM, and out-of-spec calls belongs to our engineering lead; you pull him in for sign-offs and keep the order moving. Drawing-level export screening happens before an order reaches you; you own document and HTS compliance from PO through delivery.

Decision authority

You operate inside written guardrails so you can act without waiting: freight choices, reasonable supplier schedule and cost changes, reshipments, and the routine calls that keep orders on track. Above the limits, you come to the President with a recommendation, not just a question.

What success looks like in 90 days

  • The President is out of the weekly orders review, or attends only for exceptions.
  • Suppliers and the operations specialist bring decisions to you, not upward.
  • No invoice reaches a customer unverified against the order. No shipment moves with unchecked HTS codes.
  • At least one verification check exists that nobody asked you to build.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years in purchasing, order management, or supply chain roles with overseas manufacturing. Direct experience with China, Taiwan, or India suppliers strongly preferred.
  • A track record of holding suppliers to dates and refusing unjustified increases. You will be asked for specifics.
  • Stories of catching costly errors that were not your assignment: billing discrepancies, wrong classifications, impossible schedules.
  • At least one verification process or check you built at a previous job without being asked.
  • Experience directing a coordinator, assistant, or supplier team with real authority.
  • Working fluency with EXW and DDP terms, HTS classification, freight forwarding, and customs documentation.
  • Crisp, direct written communication. Comfort using AI tools to build checks and speed up tracking is a plus.

Hours

Our suppliers are in China, Taiwan, and India. Core hours are US-based, but expect some early morning or evening overlap for supplier communication, planned deliberately rather than heroically.

Growth

This seat anchors the operations function as Redstone grows and will report into operations leadership as the team expands.
