Role Description This is a part-time Technical Manager role based in Dubai, structured as a hybrid position with both on-site and work-from-home flexibility. The Technical Manager will oversee the technical infrastructure supporting SNA’s digital platforms, ensuring reliable performance, security, and scalability. Daily responsibilities include managing website and platform maintenance, coordinating technical support, and resolving issues affecting content delivery and user experience. The role involves collaborating with editorial and product teams to implement new features, optimize workflows, and support data-driven storytelling tools. The Technical Manager will also contribute to technical roadmapping, evaluate potential tools and vendors, and help implement best practices in systems administration and documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose technical issues, interpret performance metrics, and support data-informed decisions.
- Experience in team management, including coordinating cross-functional work, mentoring technical contributors, and aligning with organizational goals.
- Hands-on technical support experience, including troubleshooting web platforms, managing integrations, and responding to user or stakeholder issues.
- Background in research and development (R&D) to evaluate emerging tools, prototype improvements, and enhance platform capabilities.
- Proven project management skills to plan, prioritize, and deliver technical initiatives on time and within scope.
- Familiarity with content management systems, web technologies, and basic security best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, manage time independently, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest in sustainability, climate issues, or African development topics is highly beneficial.
