Overview
The Engineering Technician provides technical support for metal plate connection (MPC) wood truss designs and repairs created in Simpson Strong‑Tie Integrated Component Systems software. The role coordinates with Component Manufacturer (CM) customers to ensure designs are sealed per building codes and standards, and supports engineering service across the team.
Responsibilities
- Review truss design drawings for pre‑established engineering issues and coordinate necessary changes (70%)
- Lead information gathering and design of truss repair details for customers (20%)
- Develop and maintain workflow and process documentation in Confluence and JIRA for Component Review and Truss Engineering Software teams (10%)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
- 1–4 years related experience or training in MPC wood truss design and engineering
- Qualified EIT applicants preferred
- Excellent communication, teamwork, software proficiency, and self‑management skills
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sit, talk, and hear; occasionally walk and stand
- Occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs
