Contract Turnaround Operator

The Contract Turnaround Operator supports the Operations Turnaround Team through all phases of pre‑work, shutdown, maintenance execution, commissioning, and startup for a major facility outage. This is a field‑based role suited for operators with 5–10 years of heavy‑oil or thermal operations experienc e who are comfortable working in high‑activity brownfield environments

    Perform field operations for shutdown, isolation, equipment preparation, decontamination, maintenance access, commissioning, and star t

    Complete L OTO, job‑site visits, and permit‑to‑work activities as directed by the Operations TA Te

    Conduct field walkdo wns, verify system readiness, and support safe handover between operations and maintenan

  • ce.

    Assist with permit writing or permit coordinat ion during pre‑work and execution phases (as required by the TA tea

  • m).Participate in daily operations and turnaround meetings, providing updates on work status and field conditio
  • ns.

    Follow all facility safe‑work practices and ensure safe and efficient shutdown and startup of the assigned process ar

  • ea.

    Support commissioning and startup activities following maintenance completion, including equipment checks, line‑ups, and system reinstateme

  • nt.

    Work closely with the Turnaround Operations Lead and Production Coordinator for day‑to‑day directi

on.
Requirem

  • ents4th Class Power Enginee ring certification (minim
  • um).5–10 years of operating experi ence in heavy oil, SAGD, thermal, or similar hydrocarbon processing environme
  • nts.

    Strong field‑operations background with experience in shutdowns, isolations, permitting, and startup activit

  • ies.

    Physically able to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and perform hands‑on field work in an industrial environm

  • ent.

    Ability to work extended hours, rotating shifts, and variable schedules during turnaround execut

  • ion.

    Must arrive with appropriate PPE including FR clot hing and CSA‑approved work b o

ots.
