Global Edge Group, a leader within Power and New Energies, requires a VP of project management for a major Power company. The Vice President of Project Management Office (VP, PMO) is a strategic executive leader responsible for establishing, governing, and driving enterprise-wide project and program management excellence across utility, energy, engineering, construction, and contracting operations.

This role oversees a portfolio of capital projects, operational initiatives, infrastructure investments, and transformation programs to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization's PMO strategy in alignment with corporate goals and growth initiatives.
  • Establish project governance frameworks, methodologies, standards, and best practices across the enterprise.
  • Lead a portfolio of large-scale capital, infrastructure, utility, renewable energy, transmission, distribution, generation, and construction projects.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on project performance, resource allocation, and strategic investments.
  • Drive organizational transformation initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Project Portfolio Management: Oversee enterprise-wide project portfolio planning, prioritization, and execution.
  • Monitor project health, schedule performance, budget adherence, and overall risk management.
  • Implement portfolio management tools, performance metrics, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure alignment of project investments with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate executive reviews and portfolio governance meetings

Operations & Execution

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including project managers, program managers, schedulers, cost controllers, and project analysts.
  • Develop resource planning strategies to optimize workforce utilization.
  • Ensure projects are executed according to safety, quality, environmental, and compliance standards.
  • Establish project controls processes for scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and change management.
  • Drive consistency across project execution practices throughout the organization.

Financial Management

  • Manage multi-million-dollar capital and operating budgets.
  • Oversee project financial performance, forecasting, earned value analysis, and profitability.
  • Contracting & Commercial Management
  • Oversee contract strategy development, negotiation support, and contract execution.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, scope management, and change order processes.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, subcontractors, engineering firms, and external stakeholders.
  • Mitigate commercial and contractual risks associated with large-scale projects.

Risk, Compliance & Safety

  • Implement enterprise risk management practices for project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry regulations.
  • Champion a strong safety culture consistent with utility, energy, and construction industry standards.
  • Drive regulatory readiness and audit preparedness for project-related activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain relationships with executive leadership, customers, regulators, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on portfolio performance, risks, and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead communication strategies during major project implementations and organizational change initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in project management, program management, engineering, construction, utilities, energy, or contracting organizations.
  • 7+ years of executive leadership experience managing large PMO organizations or major capital project portfolios.
  • Proven experience overseeing projects valued at $50M+
