Our client, a wholesale and retail energy trading partner is looking for a Wholesale Markets Analyst to join their commercial team.
They are in high growth mode – hiring across a range of positions in multiple departments.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and organize market data; build simple visualizations.
- Analyze power and gas markets using existing tools and ad hoc analysis.
- Produce daily market summaries highlighting key drivers.
- Track positions and P&L; support reporting on trading performance.
- Assist traders with pricing and quick-turn analysis.
- Maintain data, documentation, and internal processes.
- Build working knowledge of U.S. electricity and natural gas markets.
- Apply wholesale market concepts to commercial/trading activities.
- Manage workload across multiple priorities.
Requirements
- 1–3 years in energy/commodity markets (trade analyst, risk, or similar).
- Degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Engineering, CS, etc.).
- Strong Excel; working knowledge of Python or R.
- Experience handling structured data and basic database/SQL work.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Organized; able to manage concurrent tasks.
- Clear communicator; able to work directly with traders and team members.
- Self-directed and comfortable with limited oversight.
