Vector Solutions is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to lead and manage a high-performing engineering team of eight professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development lifecycle management, technical architecture design, and agile methodologies, particularly within the fintech sector. This leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of software engineering principles, cloud architecture, and database scalability to drive the development of innovative financial technology solutions. Excellent communication skills and mastery of the English language are essential to facilitate smooth collaboration with global partners and stakeholders. Exposure to regulatory development related to stock markets, banking, payment platforms, and financial APIs is a critical asset for success in this position.
The Head of Engineering will directly influence the engineering architecture, overseeing the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable systems using modern technologies such as microservices architecture and cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP. Experience working within or alongside US financial infrastructure, especially in brokerage and clearing technology stacks, is highly desirable. This role demands strong technical leadership and stakeholder management capabilities to effectively gather requirements, communicate technical concepts, and ensure alignment across business units and engineering teams. Managing development frameworks involving React front-end, APIs, and backend databases is also an important aspect of this position.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 8 engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Develop and oversee scalable, secure, and maintainable software architecture aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Drive the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) using agile methodologies such as Scrum and effective project management with tools like JIRA.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and development plans.
- Design and implement cloud architecture solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, or GCP to support high availability and scalability of applications.
- Ensure the engineering team adheres to best practices in technical documentation, code quality, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, guiding them in adopting best practices in software development and architecture.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of core systems involving microservices architecture, database scalability with Postgres, React front-end, and APIs.
- Ensure compliance with fintech-specific regulatory and security standards, with a focus on stock markets, payment platforms, and financial APIs.
- Support and enhance the brokerage and clearing technology stack for a variety of financial products, ensuring robust and efficient processes.
- Maintain strong communication channels across all levels of the organization and with external partners, ensuring clear and effective stakeholder engagement.
- Continuously assess emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage in fintech solutions.
