Flight Control Systems Engineer – Remote

We are seeking a senior Flight Control Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and certification of secondary flight-control systems for an advanced business aircraft. This position is remote, with occasional company-paid travel required.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with secondary flight controls, including flaps, spoilers, horizontal stabilizer trim actuators, speed brakes, and trim systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical ownership of the aircraft’s secondary flight-control system.
  • Design, develop, and integrate flight-control systems in accordance with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform trade studies involving architecture, function, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate the technical development of flight-control equipment with suppliers through certification and delivery.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for secondary flight-control system vendors.
  • Define and validate mechanical and electrical interfaces with structures, avionics, electrical, certification, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams.
  • Develop and maintain Zonal Reference Models, Interface Control Models, and Interface Control Drawings.
  • Create production-level parts, assemblies, installations, and system layouts using CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Prepare and review certification and safety documentation, including FTA, PSSA, SFHA, and ACP.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAR Part 23 and ATA 27 requirements.
  • Review engineering models and drawings and support part release and engineering-change processes.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Seven or more years of aircraft flight-control systems development experience.
  • Direct experience with secondary flight-control systems, including flaps, spoilers, HSTA, speed brakes, or trim systems.
  • Five or more years of experience designing and developing electromechanically actuated systems.
  • Strong knowledge of FAR Part 23 or Part 25 certification requirements.
  • Experience with RTCA DO-160G, DO-254, and SAE ARP4754A.
  • CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE experience.
  • Experience developing interface models and drawings, including ZRM, ICM, or ICD documentation.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.100 drawing standards and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Experience with engineering model and drawing reviews, part release, and engineering changes.
  • Strong supplier coordination and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business-aircraft experience under FAR Part 23 or Part 25.
  • Technical ownership of a flight-control subsystem from initial design through certification and delivery.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading supplier technical reviews.
