Role Description

This full-time, on-site Junior Full-Stack Developer role is based in Kabul Province, Afghanistan. The Junior Full-Stack Developer will contribute to building and maintaining internal and customer-facing web applications end to end — developing Python back-end services with FastAPI and Flask and modern front-end interfaces with Next.js and React.js. Daily tasks include implementing new features across the stack, building and consuming REST APIs, writing clean and testable code, fixing bugs, and participating in code reviews under the guidance of senior engineers. The role also involves collaborating with product and operations teams to translate requirements into working software, documenting technical work, and helping improve development workflows, performance, and user experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Computer Science fundamentals — foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and basic software engineering principles.
  • Back-end (Python) — hands-on experience or strong coursework building web services and REST APIs with Python using FastAPI and/or Flask.
  • Front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript) — solid working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience building responsive interfaces using React.js and Next.js.
  • Full-stack integration — understanding of how front-end and back-end connect: consuming APIs, handling authentication, managing state, and structuring data flow across the stack.
  • Databases — familiarity with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases, and writing basic queries.
  • Web fundamentals — good grasp of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
  • Object-Oriented Programming — solid understanding of OOP concepts and the ability to apply them to write clean, maintainable code.
  • Version control — familiarity with Git and GitHub and basic collaborative development practices (branches, commits, pull requests).
  • Growth mindset — ability to learn quickly, follow established coding standards, and work effectively within a team.
  • Communication — good communication skills in English; fluency in Pashto or Dari is an advantage.
  • Commitment — willingness to work on-site in Kabul Province, Afghanistan.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Personal, academic, or open-source projects using Python (FastAPI/Flask) and/or React/Next.js — a public GitHub portfolio is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with async programming in Python, Pydantic, and API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Experience with modern front-end tooling (e.g., Tailwind CSS, component libraries, state management).
  • Exposure to testing (PyTest, Jest/React Testing Library), CI/CD, Docker, or cloud/hosting platforms.
  • Interest in AI-driven features, automation, or integrating third-party APIs.
