Position: GIS Support Technician for City
Elevate your GIS skills with the City of Hamilton as a Geomatics GIS Support Technician. This role focuses on data analysis and GIS layer preparation in a vibrant urban setting.
As part of Hamilton’s Geomatics team, you’ll support key projects under the Senior Project Manager of Geomatics. The position requires you to maintain and update GIS datasets, input digital maps, and ensure data integrity. You’ll collaborate with different city divisions to archive essential drawings, and provide guidance when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Compile and analyze engineering and cadastral datasets
• Input new maps and drawings into GIS systems
• Liaise with city staff on digital archiving
• Maintain digital filing systems for valuable documents
• Perform quality assurance on various GIS databases
Requirements:
• GIS Diploma or related education and work experience
• Proficiency in Esri Arc Map, Micro Station, and Oracle databases
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to operate independently and in a team
• Knowledge of privacy and data retention legislation
