Hydrogeologist/Geoenvironmental Project Manager Jobs in Oshawa, Canada at Tatham Engineering
We are seeking a Hydrogeologist and/or Geoenvironmental Project Manager to work in our Hydrogeology and Geoenvironmental group in either our Guelph, Ottawa, Collingwood or Barrie office. This position is responsible for hydrogeological and/or geoenvironmental investigations to support multi-disciplinary projects in a variety of fields, including aggregate resource monitoring and compliance, construction dewatering assessments and permitting, brownfield redevelopment, private septic system and water well feasibility studies, and supporting Tatham’s municipal and land development projects.
This role serves as Project Manager, provides support for multiple projects, and will assist with mentoring junior staff, business development, and preparing proposals.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate field programs including borehole drilling, monitoring well installation, test pitting, borehole permeability testing, pumping tests, Guelph permeameter testing, and collection of surface and groundwater samples and flows.
Design and complete hydrogeological assessments for land development/municipal projects and for approvals such as Permit To Take Water, Environmental Activity and Sector Registry, and MECP D‑5‑5 / D‑5‑4 assessments.
Design and complete geoenvironmental assessments including Phase One/Two Environmental Site Assessments, remediation programs, and Record of Site Conditions.
Design and complete excess soil assessments:
Assessment of Past Use, Sampling and Analysis Plan, Soil Characterization Reports, Excess Soil Destination Assessment Report, and Soil Tracking.
Analyze groundwater, surface water, and soil chemistry data.
Interpret hydrogeological data to support conceptual groundwater model development.
Assist with completion of water balance and water budget analysis and assessments.
Complete Reasonable Use assessment using mass balance and nutrient dilution calculations.
Assist in mentoring and developing junior staff.
Identify project opportunities in existing and new project areas.
Prepare work plans and proposals to acquire work.
Key
Position Requirements Undergraduate Degree (B.Sc.) in Geoscience or Civil/Environmental Engineering with a focus on Hydrogeology.
Masters Degree (M.S.c.) in Hydrogeology or related discipline considered an asset.
Eligible to register as a P.Geo. or P.Eng.
Minimum five years of consulting experience in hydrogeology, geoenvironmental, geoscience or related discipline.
Team‑oriented, self‑motivated and safety conscious.
Ability to work independently in both field and office environments with strong attention to detail, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
Strong technical, verbal and written communication skills (English) required.
Competency with MS Office suite of applications.
Technical report and/or document writing experience an asset.
Some experience with ArcGIS considered an asset.
Willing to travel (mostly within central Ontario, but with occasional southern or remote northern Ontario projects).
Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License and vehicle appropriate for carrying field equipment.
