SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Lab Technician to join an engineering testing laboratory. This hands-on role involves operating and setting up laboratory equipment, conducting materials testing, and supporting forensic investigations on structures and construction materials.
POSITION INFO:
Job Description:
- Operate and maintain UTM machines, hydraulic testing systems, and laboratory equipment
- Conduct concrete cube, cylinder, compressive strength, and crushing tests
- Perform soil and geotechnical testing in accordance with industry standards
- Assist with forensic investigations of structural failures and material performance
- Accurately record, analyse, and report test results
- Ensure equipment calibration, laboratory compliance, and safety standards are maintained
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in materials testing, or geotechnical laboratory
- Experience with concrete, soil, and hydraulic testing equipment
- Knowledge of SANS, ASTM, and ISO testing standards
- Strong attention to detail and reporting skills
Qualification:
NDip, BTech, Advanced Diploma, or BSc in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
