Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager (Toronto, ON)
Kenaidan and Murphy are excited to announce a joint venture dedicated to bringing global innovation to infrastructure projects across Ontario. The Bloor‑Yonge Capacity Improvements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor‑Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.
The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher‑capacity subway system for passengers.

Job Responsibilities
- Manage all M&E project activities from procurement through commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain M&E execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Lead the review and coordination of design documents, shop drawings, RFIs, and technical submissions.
- Support constructability reviews, design optimization, and value engineering initiatives.
- Oversee mechanical, electrical, communications, and systems subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution.
- Coordinate M&E activities with civil, structural, and architectural teams to maintain project integration.
- Manage subcontractor progress claims, change orders, cost forecasts, and procurement activities.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
- Build strong relationships with TTC representatives, consultants, subcontractors, utilities, and key stakeholders.
- Lead coordination meetings and provide regular project updates to senior leadership.
- Manage testing, commissioning, system turnover, and final handover requirements.
- Support operational readiness, training, and the completion of closeout documentation.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all M&E project activities.
Education and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation considered an asset.
- Minimum 8‑12 years of experience managing mechanical and electrical construction projects.
- Experience on major infrastructure, transit, transportation, rail, institutional, or heavy civil projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- HVAC, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection, life safety, communications, security, and building automation systems.
- M&E testing, commissioning, system integration, and turnover processes.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera P6, MS Project, and construction management software.
Salary Range
Between $150,000 to $180,000 depending on experience.
