Senior Steel Detailer / Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Senior Steel Detailer / Project Manager to lead structural steel detailing projects from award through fabrication and site coordination. This role requires a highly organized professional with strong technical expertise in structural steel, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across sales, engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage structural steel detailing projects from kickoff to final delivery
- Produce and oversee accurate steel detailing models and shop drawings
- Review and approve – Shop drawings, Erection drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), CNC and fabrication outputs
- Coordinate project schedules, priorities, and deliverables with internal teams
- Develop and maintain shipping schedules and material tracking reports
- Track and manage revisions and changes between Sales, Engineering, Detailers, Fabrication, Site/field teams
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and fabrication requirements
- Communicate directly with engineers, architects, contractors, and fabrication teams to resolve issues efficiently
- Identify potential clashes, missing information, and constructability concerns before fabrication
- Mentor junior detailers and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in project meetings and provide status updates on schedules, RFIs, revisions, and production
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7–10 years of structural steel detailing experience
- Strong project management and coordination background in structural steel fabrication
- Expert-level proficiency in: Tekla Structures, Autodesk Advance Steel
- Extensive experience with: Structural steel shop drawings, Connection detailing, Bills of Material, Fabrication and erection processes
- Strong understanding of structural and architectural drawings
- Experience coordinating directly with fabrication shops and field/site teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
