Position: Technical Author (SL Pre-Ops)
Responsibilities
- Produce a suite of compliant, professionally produced working‑level Operation, Maintenance (O&M) and emergency instructions within defined time frames.
- Develop Risk Assessment requirements in support of Working Level Instructions.
- Interrogate engineering, design and vendor information to produce Volume C documents.
- Carry out on‑plant validation and post‑validation/red‑pen changes of the working‑level instructions.
- Manage communication between stakeholders and support plant walk‑downs to enable site familiarisation.
- Report directly to the Pre‑Operations Manager.
- Provide weekly progress updates.
- Attend progress meetings.
- Ensure safety is the highest priority on the project and continually strive towards Zero Harm.
- Apply quality standards and consistency throughout the documentation produced.
Qualifications
- Minimum HNC in an appropriate discipline (Mechanical or Electrical).
- Previous Technical Author experience (not required).
- Ability to obtain SC clearance (essential).
- Background in nuclear operations or sites.
Project Overview
You will be working on the Box Encapsulation Plant project, a key construction initiative at the Sellafield Site that encases nuclear waste recovered from legacy waste plants in concrete for long‑term storage.
